Group Wallet
AvailableA shared pot for a collective purpose.
A Group Wallet is a shared pot for a specific collective purpose. Members contribute; authorised participants use funds under group rules. Contributions and balance are tracked separately — spending does not retroactively change contribution progress.
The problem it solves
Collecting money from a group toward a shared goal — and then spending from that pool in an orderly, visible way — without losing track of who contributed what or confusing contribution totals with available balance.
Who it's for
Friends planning a trip, colleagues organising an event, any group with a specific financial goal requiring pooled contributions and coordinated spending.
Worked example
Four friends. One trip. ₦250,000 goal.
Four members each contribute toward a ₦250,000 trip target. Total collected: ₦200,000 — 80% of goal. An approved accommodation payment of ₦120,000 draws from the balance. Current balance: ₦80,000.
Key point
Contribution progress stays at 80%. It does not drop to 32% because ₦120,000 was spent. Contributions and balance are separate figures.

What it does
Ongoing pot. Collective purpose. Clear tracking.
Contributions tracked
Lifetime contributions per member and in total, separately from current balance.
Authorised spending
Authorised participants spend from the wallet under the group's rules. Not all members have spend authority by default.
Balance visibility
Current balance reflects contributions minus approved spending. Progress toward the goal is shown independently.
How it compares
Group Wallet vs Group Split
· Shared pot — members contribute money
· Collective purpose (trip, event, goal)
· Ongoing balance tracked over time
· Authorised members spend from balance
· Contribution progress ≠ current balance
· Cost-allocation calculation — no shared pot
· Works out who owes what for a specific expense
· Produces obligations per person
· Each person pays their own share
· Different situation entirely
